The Rolling Stones couldn’t get any, and it seems to world cannot either!
So many people in this world are searching for satisfaction and contentment. All we have to do is turn on the TV, and it will not be long before we see it. The government about to shut down because the parties cannot agree on anything. Young people are changing their genders because it’s their ‘right’ to do so. No one is satisfied with who they are.
But should we be satisfied? Should we be content? The answer lies within each of us. Somethings we can and should be content with, but others not. We need to always strive to do better, to be a better Christ-follower, to be a better wife, mother, daughter, son, coworker, etc., to be a better….you fill in the blank. If we become content with who we are and aren’t growing, we become like still water in a stagnant pond.
I know the apostle Paul in Philippians 4 said he had learned to be content in any situation he found himself, but I can help think he wasn’t content within himself except where he knew Jesus had saved him. After all he was a murderer of Christians, and don’t we all suffer from self guilt of the sins we commit everyday?
So, I guess the bottom line in being content is knowing that if we are Christ-followers, we are saved. Only in Christ can we be content. As Christians we need to be showing the world the way to contentment and that is only through our Savior!
