Hope. What do you think of when you hear or see the word hope?
I think there are two definitions for hope. The first I would consider a worldy one. Dictionary.com defines hope as (noun) the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best and (verb) to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence; to feel that something desired will happen.
I hope to feel better each day after surgery. I hope my kids are doing well in college. I hope my husband’s meetings at work go well. The key word in the worldly definition is ‘can’ be. All these hopes we have, can be.
But the spiritual definition of hope is confidence in what God has promised. Christians often say we have ‘hope of eternal life.’ What does that mean? It is more than God can; it is God WILL! He WILL keep His promises. He WILL be with us through all our trials. He WILL take us home to be with Him when this life is over. He WILL!
So, as you go throughout your day today and every day, as you think about your hopes, remember God WILL. He can and He will!
Dear Laurel, I didn’t know anything about you having surgery until now. Although, I don’t know your surgery date, know that my prayer for you will be timely. As of today, I will add you to my prayer list. At this time, we are praying for my Brother in-law, Brother Jack Wilkins, we just found out he has Leukemia. Be mindful that hope and prayer are eternal partners. Jesus is the hope of the world and prayer is our way to communication to the father. Take care and God Bless you….
