As I write this blog today, I am in the hospital waiting area waiting for my brother to have his knee replacement surgery. Waiting is so hard. We spend so much of our time waiting in this life. We are waiting for surgeries to be over; waiting for time to change; waiting for things to happen; waiting for God to answer our prayers.
We’ve all probably been in a hospital waiting room before, and if you haven’t, you are very blessed. Watching people is one of my favorite things to do, and in this setting, it’s even more interesting. I wonder what others are thinking? I wonder if they have the peace that only God can give during these times? I hope so.
Psalm 27:14 says, Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! This isn’t a suggestion. It sounds like a command. There are so many examples in the Bible of people waiting on the Lord and His timing. I read one quote that said waiting isn’t punishment; it’s preparation. I agree with this although it doesn’t make it any easier.
So, as we wait in this life and wait for the Lord, remember that things are in His time. I have found that when I have to wait, it almost always benefits me. Either God is working things out for my good by saving me from something bad or teaching me a lesson for my good.
Next time you are made to wait for something, take a step back, pray, and look for God in it!
