We all have regrets. We all have moments when we look back and ask ourselves, what were we thinking when we did THAT? Some of us have more than others, and some of us have worse things we did.
Yesterday, I thought about Paul from the Bible. If anyone had a hard time letting go of the past, it must have been him. He killed a lot of Christians. So many that Jesus stopped him on the road to blind him and get his attention.
What does God do to us to get our attention and get us to move forward?
Like Paul, we need to press on. Paul said in Philippians 3:
But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
We have to press on, leaving and forgetting what lies behind us. Straining forward. Yes, sometimes is feels like we are straining to put one foot in front of the other. But we strive for the goal that will come at the end of our lives here on this earth. We have an upward calling.
I like this song. It reminds me that even though we may not get IT, we may not understand what and why, we need to press on.
