Last night Chris and I saw one of my most favorite musicals, Fiddler on the Roof. I could blog about many aspects of the play; tradition vs. doctrine, our children defying what they’ve been taught, community life, or even marriage.
But the main idea of the play is, of course, the fiddler. You see him only during those times that Tevye, the father and main character, is having to go through changes. Hard changes. Changes in his family, in his society, and in his spiritual life.
But isn’t that what life is like. I told Chris I was going to start doing the fiddling motion every time we go through changes. He doesn’t like change much, while I love it (most of the time).
Life is about changes, whether they are bad or good. All change can be hard, because the unknown scares us.
If you aren’t changing and growing, you aren’t living. The only constant in this world is God and Jesus. Aren’t we glad!
