What do you do when you hit rock bottom? When you’re at the end of your rope? When your mind cannot think of anything else to get out of a situation? When there seems to be no last resort? No hope?
Recently, someone I knew killed himself. He hung himself inside his own home. One of his friends found him a few days later. I know what caused this in his life…this feeling of having no hope.
I didn’t know him very well. I knew his mother better, but I did know him. I had talked with him on several occasions. I knew his life, or at least, had a glimpse of it. But I didn’t walk in his shoes. I didn’t have his problems. I wasn’t at his rock bottom.
I know what he did when he was faced with rock bottom. No knot in the end of his rope. No last resort except to end it all.
But taking your life isn’t a last resort! Please know this! It hurts so many people.
I can’t say why things happen to us, only that God will help us through them, but we have to be in a right relationship with Him. I think that is why God allows us to hit rock bottom. So we will look up and see Him and only Him as our answer. It isn’t easy climbing up from rock bottom, but with God all things are possible!
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:9-10
So, today if you are at rock bottom, look up. If you are at the end of your rope, tie and knot and hang on! Acknowledge you need help and ask for it! It may not be easy, but…
Just DON’T do it!
