There’s a television show that ran from 2009 to 2018 called ‘The Middle.’ It was about a middle class family that lived in the middle of the United States. Most episodes were funny, but some were just a reminder of how bad the American family has become.
Sometimes when I walk, the road is very uneven. To be more balanced I walk in the middle. It seems to be more level, and it doesn’t bother my hips when I walk in the middle.
The middle.
So many times we want to be in the middle. The middle of the ‘in’ crowd. The middle of all the attention. The middle of the road.
Sometimes we are in the middle of the muck and mire when we do not want to be.
But the idea that comes to my mind when I hear the words ‘the middle’ is the fact that so many of us are in the middle of right and wrong. We don’t pick a side. We think things aren’t black or white. We live in the gray area. We think there is no absolute truth.
There is absolute truth. God’s truth. In His word.
Pick a side.
Don’t be in the middle.
