Rivers have always been important throughout history. They are mentioned many times in the Bible. The Garden of Eden was located between rivers. Jesus was baptized in a river. There’s a river in Heaven where the Tree of Life stands. People in history have always tried to settle near a river. Towns were built on or near rivers.
Having water is a powerful tool and a necessity.
I am reminded of the song by the group Needtobreathe called Washed by the Water.
One verse says:
Even if the Earth crumbles under my feet
Even if the ones I love turn around and crucify me
I won’t never ever let you down
I won’t fall
I won’t fall
I won’t fall as long as you’re around me.
Do you ever feel as if the ones you love are around to crucify you? We won’t fall as long as we stick with God. As the chorus says:
Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
‘Cause even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water.
But we have to be washed by the water.
