A few weeks ago, I was suffering with positional vertigo also known as BPPV. I could not get treatment that day, so I sat on the couch all day just looking straight ahead. When I had to get up, it was slow going looking to neither the left or the right. If you’ve ever had it, I’m sorry! and you know how bad it is. It is so, so much more than being dizzy!
There’s a passage in 2 Kings 22 that reminded me about not only about vertigo but also how we as Christians should look not to the left or right but straight ahead to our Savior .
Josiah, a king of only 8 years old, followed God’s path. He broke the cycle of the evil kings before him. He stayed the straight path and didn’t turn left or right.
2 Kings 22:2 says, He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left.
Deuteronomy 5:32 says, So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.
It is hard when there are so many distractions to our left and right. But stay the course; focus on Jesus who makes all our paths straight!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
and He will make your paths straight. Prov. 3:5-6
