As I get older, it seems some things bother me more than they used to. Like smells. There are times when I smell something really bad and think I might throw up! I ask myself, how long can I hold my breath?
Each day I try to wear scented lotion or perfume to be a pleasing smell, but I’ve often wondered how many times I have stank to people around me?
I don’t mean physical smell. I mean Spiritual smell.
Maybe it was my actions or words that stank. Maybe it was the lack of a smile on my face.
2 Corinthians 2:14 – 16 says: But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?
Am I an aroma that brings life or death?
Am I equal to the task? No way! If Paul is questioning who can do it, then I know I’ll fail.
But get up! Put on that sweet smelling aroma each day and try again!
