Today, I was blessed to go to a vintage marketplace with my two sisters. We had a blast looking for unique things in each booth, laughing and just spending time together.
We came across one booth filled with blocks of wood with different words or Bible verses. Sometimes there were just words with a Bible verse under it. One of them caught my eye.
It said, “Drop the stone.” John 8:7
Of course, it didn’t hit me what drop the stone meant until I took out my phone, opened the Bible app, and looked up John 8.
The story is one any Christian is familiar with and one to which we can all relate. A woman is caught in the act of adultery and brought to Jesus for judgment. We know how it goes…Jesus writes something in the dirt, and They kept demanding an answer, so He stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” v. 7 (NLT)
Have you ever put yourself in this situation? What if you were the woman? Or someone in the crowd holding a stone anxious to hurl it at ‘the sinner?’
Would you drop your stone?
Do you hold on to it now very tightly or have you dropped it today?
Drop it and kick it away!
