Yesterday, I was behind an SUV at a red light, and I noticed the back windshield wiper was broken off. As I looked closer, I saw that even though it wasn’t attached, the mechanism was turned on. The little stubb without the wiper would move every few seconds, back and forth, side to side.
It got me thinking.
I can be that way. How many times have I tried to turn off my thoughts or actions only to discover the switch is still on?
Psalm 46:10 says, Be still and know that I am God.
No one knows how to be still better than Jesus did. As He walked this earth, He knew when to turn off the switch. He often went away alone to pray and decompress.
It can be hard to find the time to be alone with God. You’re a mom and responsible for little ones. You’re a wife whose husband works from home. You’re…whatever…hardly ever alone.
It takes planning. Get up a few minutes earlier than anyone. Go to bed after everyone. Take your Bible in the bathroom (yes, I said it).
Find a few minutes every day to make sure the switch is off.
