I love to think about what it must have been like in the garden of Eden.
Genesis 3: 8 says, Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day.
What must it have been like to walk and talk with God in the cool of the day?
In worship we sing a song sometimes called Be With Me, Lord. But it occured to me last night as I was praying, that God cannot be with us, and we cannot be with God…yet.
We can have God’s spirit within us, but it’s not being with God.
So can we ever be with God? Yes.
When we die.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
Does it scare you to think about death? Me too! But we do not have to be afraid.
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15.
Jesus went first for us. He will be there waiting on us. God will be there and we will get to be with him!
Imagine that!
