Our eyes are wonderful organs. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be blind. Only if we close our eyes can we even get a glimpse as to what it must be like to live in darkness.
But many of us live in darkness. The darkness of sin.
The eyes are powerful as well. They let us see into someone’s soul. They let us see God’s wonderful creation in the world around us.
But they also let us see evil.
Pornography is rampant in our world today. What used to be only in magazines and on the internet is now just a flip of the remote away. It is on regular TV channels we watch every day. It is in the movies we go see, even ones that would have been rated R or above are now just PG.
Pornography has touched many of our lives in one way or another. It can be such a secret sin that eats away at your soul.
Job knew about it. He said, “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. For what is our lot from God above, our heritage from the Almighty on high? Is it not ruin for the wicked, disaster for those who do wrong?“
Job answers the question, can we look away? Can we resist? The answer is yes! We can train our eyes to look away from any and every temptation. satan knows what gets us, and he wants to put it right in front of us!
Make a choice today to just look away. Just turn off that show. Just don’t go see that movie. Just don’t put ourselves in that situation.
With God’s help we can do it!
