I have a good friend (she’s probably reading this!) who used to say she went home after teaching and ‘washed off the school.’
I know what she meant by that though there can be two meanings. Not only washing off the germs all the kids give teachers but also washing away the day’s troubles.
The word washed is a great word! I don’t know about you, but I like to be clean. The feeling of being freshly washed makes me feel good. It wakes me up in the morning. There aren’t many days I don’t get clean.
But there’s also another way we’re washed. Of course, I mean washed in the blood. The blood of Jesus. Just like when I am dirty and in need of a shower, I am also dirty and in need of Jesus’ blood. It cleanses me white as snow. I can never get that clean in the shower!
Some clothes in the laundry, even though they’ve been washed, still have set-in stains. I still have scars from old places that have been washed by Jesus, but I am without stain in God’s eyes. Thankfully, He looks at me through Jesus’ blood. He sees me completely washed! Better than I can ever do myself.
If you’re not being washed continually in Jesus’ blood, why not? What is stopping you? You’ll never be clean enough on your own!
