When I was in college studying psychology, I was fascinated by many aspects of the mind. I also discovered many of my fellow students suffered with psychological illnesses.
Perhaps to a degree, we all do.
Schizophrenia is a general term describing someone who has several different mental symptoms. One of those is hearing voices. Maybe we all hear voices. I know we all remember the things our parents told us. Good or bad, we hear those tapes playing inside our heads.
In John chapter 10, Jesus talks about hearing His voice. He is the Good Shepherd, and we are His sheep. Sheep listen to the voice of their master. They learn to drown out all other voices and only listen to the One that truly has their best interest. The voice that truly cares for them.
Have you learned to only listen for the One voice? I believe it is a process. We are bombarded with so many voices today. The only way to learn to recognized the only voice we need to hear is to read and study God’s word daily.
His is the only voice that has our best interest. His is the only voice that loves us more than anything.
