The Little Things

I cannot imagine being blind. The only way to get a glimpse of how it would be is to close our eyes, but even then light gets through.

We take for granted the little things like our sight. We are so used to having them, we forget to thank God for them.

Fanny Crosby was a woman who lived from 1820 to 1915 being blind her whole life. She wrote many of the hymns we sing in worship today. One of my favorites is He Hideth My Soul.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away,
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God!
For such a Redeemer as mine.

When clothed with His brightness transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

Refrain:
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

She once told a preacher, if she had been born with sight, she would have prayed to be blind. Then, the first person she would see is Jesus Christ.

This year be thankful for the little things, which are really the big things!
