In one of Chris’s blogs, I read something that made me really think. Basically, it asked the question, “How long does it take you to think about Jesus when you get up in the morning?”
I like to get up early most days. When my girls were still home, I would get up before everyone to start the day off with God in His word. I still practice that today only I don’t have to get up quite as early. Usually I awake just before the sun comes up, when I can hear the birds chirping and see the sky beginning to lighten.
I have found if I don’t spend that time to ‘be still and know’ then my whole day feels off.
Psalm 5:3 from The Message says,
Every morning
you’ll hear me at it again.
Every morning
I lay out the pieces of my life
on your altar
and watch for fire to descend.
Try it. When you get up first thing, meet with Him. Lay out the pieces of your life. Watch for the fire! I guarantee you’ll be better for it.
We can make all the excuses we want about not having enough time, but we make time for what we want to do each day.
After all, these days it seems all we have is time.
