Beauty

Yesterday morning our electricity flashed several times then finally was off all morning. Turned out to be a tree fell on power lines down the street, but there’s nothing like taking a shower in the dark and trying to put on makeup by flashlight.

As I was getting ready for work by the small light of the flashlights and windows, my mind went to beauty. I try every day to look my best as far as putting on makeup and styling my hair. We each do the best on what we’ve got to work with.

But I thought what if for some reason I couldn’t put on makeup and do my hair for work, would I still be beautiful? Would the people I see daily still think I am beautiful?

Am I beautiful?

1 Peter 3:3-4 says:

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

And Proverbs 31:30 says:

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Where do we get beauty?

The most physically repelling person can be beautiful when you get to know their spirit. The soul God created, who they are inside shines with beauty.

There have been only a few people, maybe even only one, I have told “I love your soul.” She is my friend. I am her friend. Her beauty shines forth because of the person she is inside.

Be beautiful today!
